*Even though our focus is on breeding for ourselves, for show, we still do have a waiting list for those that don't mind waiting patiently for a budgie or budgies of their own. It helps with our seed cost(s) & gives you a sweet budgie buddy. So we will leave all of the info below.
*If you want to wait for a baby American Budgie aka Parakeet, we can add you to a waiting list. The wait does vary & we do not know how long you will be waiting.
*For a baby, the wait time is an average of 6 to 10 weeks from their date of hatch (DOH). We DO NOT GUARANTEE that you will receive your baby parakeet within that time frame.
*FYI: Baby birds are fragile, especially while hand feeding. So when we have baby birds that we are hand feeding, not all will make it. We may lose some or all in a clutch of babies. So please understand this & don't pick out & get attached to a certain baby you see in our pics.
We will post updates of growing babies on our Facebook Page. We feel that sending everyone on our waiting lists ' pics of growing babies, will jinx the babies. Yes, weird superstition but we have our reasons. "Don't count your chicks before they hatch."
Once the baby birds are in the safe zone & we feel that they will thrive, we will start going down the waiting list & contacting people.
*Keep in mind that we let the baby birds wean on their own. If a baby bird is not ready, we do not rush them & the wait will be longer. You will have to wait until they finish weaning on their own. The babies we will be hand feeding around 3-5 weeks old because we do work & can't be home in time to feed younger babies.
Now here are the waiting lists rules:
1. We will only allow waiting lists for Parakeets (American Budgies). Any other breed will be posted in our Available Birds tab on our web site or in our Available Birds photo album in our photo section on our Facebook page.
2. We will not take requests for specific colors, specific genders or specific clutches.
3. There is a non-refundable deposit to get on the waiting list for upcoming babies.
The deposit is per bird requested & it helps weed out the time wasters & flakes.
This is just a deposit to get on the waiting list for upcoming babies that are hatching & growing, not to reserve specifics.
Our PAYPAL LINK for the deposit is: paypal.me/thepidgeoncoop
4. We require 2 ways to contact you.
5. When we contact you about a baby bird that you are on the list for:
1st Time: You have 48 hours to respond. If you don't respond on time, you will be put at the end of the waiting list.
2nd Time: You have 48 hours to respond. If you don't respond on time, you will be removed from the waiting list, lose your deposit & will have to pay another deposit to get back on the waiting list.
6. When we schedule a pick up date/time & you don't show up that day (no call/no show), you will lose your non-refundable deposit & we will sell your baby to another family. Sometimes life does happen & we do take that in to consideration. We can schedule you another date/time that is convenient for you, with a different baby.
7. When we schedule a pick up date/time, you may reschedule only once if something comes up at the last minute. When we schedule a pick up date/time, a 2nd time & you can't make it that day...you will lose your deposit & we will sell your baby to another family. Sorry, delayed pick up of a baby causes us to end up with one we can't sell.
8. If you decide that a bird is not what you want & you ask to be removed from the waiting list, the deposit is non-refundable.
9. When we contact you about an upcoming baby, you may pass on the baby until the next clutch of babies. We need to know immediately so we can move on to the next person.
10. We can not hold babies long after their ready dates. Between work, life, our other pets, the aviary & hand feeding other baby birds...we do not have the time to handle babies daily after they have weaned & are ready to go. They need to go to their new homes immediately, after weaning, to start bonding.
11. First on the list gets first pick, second on the list gets second pick, etc.
12. If you put a deposit down to get on the list for a baby, we will contact you once we have a baby for you or babies for you to pick from. If you don't hear from us, we don't have a baby ready for you yet. However, feel free to check in with us & we will get back with you as soon as we can. If you want to follow the growth of our babies, please follow our Facebook Page.
13. Before you put down a deposit, keep in mind that you will be waiting & you may not have a baby bird by a certain date. That's why it is a waiting list.
*If you want on the waiting list please contact us & we will address any questions you may have. Afterwards, please add your deposit & follow us for updates on babies.
*We can meet at the police stations in Azle, Springtown, Weatherford, Boyd, Decatur & Lake Worth, for baby bird pick up, for free. Anything outside of that is case by case (we may or may not be able to meet there) & will be a $25+ gas fee IF we can meet.
*Keep in mind, we do work full time jobs at a hospital so we don't have free time to drive all over to drop off birds. This is a hobby & not our main source of income so our days, times & meeting locations may be limited. So if your unable to meet at the above police stations, please keep that in mind before putting yourself down on our waiting list, because we may not be able to get free time to meet elsewhere.
No deposit = No waiting list.
FYI: Don't forget to give us 2 ways to contact you.
American Budgies aka Parakeets:
We do have a lot of parakeet pairs but since we are showing Exhibition Budgies aka English Budgies, we won't have a lot going at once. Need to have room to raise our Show Budgies.
We will have at least 2 to 6 pairs going at once. So there will be several different colors & clutches to chose from.
Keep in mind that we will be keeping babies back to breed. So what you see, may not be for sale.
As far as weaning goes, they are usually ready anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks old. However, they will not be ready for their new home until they wean from us so it can be longer. We do not force wean.
.
Exhibition Budgies akaEnglish Budgies:
We do not have a lot of Exhibition pairs going for hand tame. Just FYI. Since we are showing them, most of our pairs are set up for show babies.
We will have at least 1 to 3 pairs going at once. However, they tend to take longer to make and lay fertile eggs. They DO NOT breed like the parakeets.
Keep in mind that most babies seen are either our own for show or another fellow exhibitor(s) for show. We do have several pairs that are on loan to us, so we can make exceptional show birds for ourselves & the owner of the pair(s).
As far as weaning goes, they are usually ready anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks old. However, they will not be ready for their new home until they wean from us so it can be longer. We do not force wean.
KEEP IN MIND THAT THE WAITING LIST IS CURRENTLY FOR THE AMERICAN BUDGIES AKA PARAKEETS ONLY, AT THIS TIME. WE DO NOT HAVE A WAITING LIST FOR THE EXHIBITION BECAUSE WE HAVE TO BUILD OUR SHOW BENCH UP 1ST. ESPECIALLY SINCE ONE OF US MOVED UP IN TO THE INTERMEDIATE LEVEL & THE OTHER ONLY HAS A FEW WINS BEFORE BEING MOVED UP. GOT TO MAKE US SOME SHOW STOPPERS.
